NXDN vs DMR: What Is the Difference?

Kenwood NX1200 and NX1300 radios are available in two digital formats which serve different operational needs.

NXDN (NX models) uses FDMA technology and supports very narrow 6.25 kHz and narrow 12.5 kHz channels. This allows excellent spectral efficiency and clear voice in congested radio environments. NXDN is ideal for organisations that need precise channel control or operate in areas with limited frequency availability.

DMR (D models) uses TDMA technology and operates with two time slots in a 12.5 kHz channel. This effectively doubles channel capacity and allows one frequency to support two simultaneous voice paths. DMR is popular for businesses seeking efficient capacity, strong feature support and broad interoperability.
